Although I don't listen to music while racing, I will listen to some before I start.
It's a fact music can affect your attitude/actions. (and for sure the way I drive)
If I'm driving the Mercedes 300SL or any car with a soft exhaust sound, chances are this was the song I last heard.
Curtis Mayfield, "Pusherman"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oLNW9w1odK4&feature=related

Now if it's speed and pushing my driving skills I'm looking for it's this one.
I like the original by Elton John a lot better but this one has some car racing in it and you'll hear enough of the song to get the idea.
Makes me wild-eyed.... pedal to the metal..... podium or DNF/DQ.

That Cheech & Chong version is much better than the one I posted. Good find there. That's a keeper.

The 2nd one has a good strong beat but after listening to it............
well..... lets just say it wasn't the beat that was going through my head!! :naughty
Yes, it was the "eye-candy".
( and I noticed all 3 got podiums.) ;)

Hey man, I like techno music. Just that I don't hear it very often and if the video has "eye-candy" in it...... well lets just say I'm easily distracted.;)
Running Man was awesome. The dude had me smiling right from the start.
That white boy can kick-it.

Soul, rock & roll, and blues is my thing.
You won't see me bad mouth anybodies musical taste.
Not a lot of people are into the blues, probably to slow for'em. (for them):)

When I say "soul music" I don't mean "rap".
I'm old school...... I'm talking 60's & 70's groups.
But I'm always willing to check out new sounds.

Hey thats a good find there Pelle. I didn't know about that one either. And here I was thinking you were all about "techno".
The kid is cool and so's dad. :)

Ah, Carlos Santana, an excellent guitarist and the Woodstock version is the long one. Where everyone gets a chance to showcase their talent.

Now for some of what I call "blue-eyed soul".
In my opinion the most beautiful love song ever written. You don't even have to understand the words. It's in the "feeling" of his voice, you either feel it or you don't.

I do listen to music when I drive :)

these are various tracks like Cardigans - My Favourite Game; Cris Rea - The road to Hell; Odessi feat Maria Naylor - Over Again (Original Club); Markus Schulz feat Anita Kelsey - First Time ...... which approach for not loud listening and allow me an even greater spirit to win :D

slo-Mo-shun
21-04-08, 15:01
Mc.... you know I'm lazy..... and I had to "youtude" each one of them. ;)
Odessi & Markus have that techno flavor to them and I liked the bluesy sound & the autobahn driving of Cris Rea's song.
But my favorite is the Cardigans-- "My Favorite Game".
Not only is the song good..... it's got my dream ride/car in it. I can watch that car for hours.
So I posted it. :D

Oh man, I found this video from Denmark (KB Hallen) year 1972/73 'sry' can't remember...but how I know: I was there :naughty
We have color TV at this time, but DR (Danish Radio) wouldn't spend money on color, therefore the concert was recorded in b/w :(
Edit: Now I found the right date (http://www.purple.de/dirk/purple/tours/1972/72-03-01.htm) and have buyed the DVD (really good sound) and there is a concert from New York to...in color :)
On the DVD I missed the warm'up group ELO :(
I bumped in on a little fun notice when I look for the date:
A man see a little boy to the concert and ask him how he got in? My father is Torben Ulrich (famous tennis player in 60's)
...can you guess who the little boy is? Lars Ulrich from Metallica *drummer*Deep Purple - Highway Star
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KgZSnAkQc4c&feature=related
The warm'up group was ELO (Electric Light Orchestra)
Here in Denmark we just have heard 'Roll over Beethoven' in radio...

...& got a little chock when we saw these guys entering the stage :rolf2:

Man Pelle, you were into some "real" heavy rock & roll. I'll give the edge to you on that. :)
Ah those were the days. Can you remember who you were with at the concert?
Or is it, "dude, I'm telling ya I barely remember being there myself!:wink1
Hey thats cool Pelle. I just didn't think you were into hard core rock like that. You must have had long hair back in the day. :shades

I like to check out bands doing "cover songs" and see how close to the original they are.
(cover song= One that is not your own. Made popular by someone else)
When I came across this guy, a 40 year old Filipino named Arnel Pineda.
In my opinion Asian bands are some of the best at it and those from the Philippines are among the elite.
"The Zoo", the band he was with before being chosen Steven Perry's replacement. I think they (Journey) have found a winner in this guy.
What a performer. You can feel the passion and see the energy he brings. A man who believed in the words...."Don't Stop Believing".
This is the kind of stuff movies are made of.
(the band has a tendency to over power his voice)

Nice to know the Turks have some good music to listen to.
That's a good tune for sure. :)

Suzi Quatro..I was wondering why I hadn't heard of her but I see that she was far more popular in Europe and Australia. She did look familiar but maybe I remember seeing her on the American TV show Happy Days.
I played the other video's and I really liked one called "Mama's Boy".
Probably because she was using the back-up singers for harmonizing.
I like that.

Holly Volance... wow, what a beauty. Had to run the video again because the 1st time I was concentrating so much on her I didn't get a good read on the music itself.:o ;)

But for the win......... "The Runaways"
"Mama We're All Crazy Now"...... oh yeah:clap:

Runaways...I like the old Slade number too, but I came to thinking of Slade made a number called 'Run Runaway'...they stole the name from Slade too

Slade stole 'Born To Be Wild' (best version on 'Slade Alive') from Steppenwolf...but Slayer make a good one here:

Slayer.... they were know for playing loud.... real loud!
I had a friend who I think damaged his hearing listening to them.:D
I did hear the whole song but couldn't watch the whole video. To graphic for me.:tears

The Who..... great musicians, song writers and performers. Peter Townsend was one "wild & crazy guy".
I don't think he smashes up his equipment like he used to.
Every time I check this thread I end up spending a hour @ YouTube afterword. Your coming up with some good stuff here Pelle.

Great stuff Henry, and thanks for helping out buddy.
My 3 favorites were,
#3.... Austria 3
#2..... "Mama".... although I like the music of her other song better, it was Mama that moved me the most. Very sad.:tears
#1.... Reinhard Fendrich, beautiful voice and scenery/mountains.
I don't know what he's saying it seemed to be about man accomplishing goals like conquering a mountain.
(then again I could be all hosed up on the one.)
Anyway it moved/touched me.

He reminds me of John Denver.
Back in the 60's & 70's when everyone else was singing about rebellion, burning down the place and taking it to the man, he was singing about the beauty of this earth and all it's creatures.
He took a lot of sh*t because he wasn't on board the hard rock bandwagon.
One of his hero's was Jacques-Yves Cousteau as he was for me too.

John had an incredible voice range and he sang with passion & feeling .He was what I call "good people".

Gianna rocks! I like her attitude. I would tip my hat to her but my arm is to sore.;)

Baba O'Riley, a great song and man I liked that video. There's something cool about that guy. I mean, he's average looking but you can sense a coolness about him. The kind of guy you'd like to hang out with. That's the best way I can put it.
And your right. The Who is in my top 3 of rock bands.
The Tommy album is pure genius!

Thats the best reason you could have. And i have to say: right decision my friend.

#1.... Reinhard Fendrich, beautiful voice and scenery/mountains.
I don't know what he's saying it seemed to be about man accomplishing goals like conquering a mountain.
(then again I could be all hosed up on the one.)
Anyway it moved/touched me.

yes you are complete wrong. look at the header of the track: "I am from Austria". He sings about his country. I don't know how good you are in history. Before the First-World-War Austria-Hungary was one of the most powerful countrys in the world. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Austria-Hungary)
The first lines are about that this time is long ago and over. Now Austria is a little alpine state and nobody other than he respects this little country. But he will ever stand by austria because here he comes from and he is including and nobody can change this. Than he tell us about some impressions from austria - you can see this in the scenery.
It's one of the most powerful songs i ever heard. And i can't understand why it was only number 6 in austria - today it's the inofficial hymn from austria and it unite the people. Maybe it's comparable to "Born in the USA" from Bruce "The Boss" Springsteen?
Most official hymn are very nationalistic, glorified and a little bit racist, but this song not.
Reinhard Fendrich is an universal genius of music and movie. Songwriter, singer, actor, host, musical producer,...

He took a lot of sh*t because he wasn't on board the hard rock bandwagon.
One of his hero's was Jacques-Yves Cousteau as he was for me too.

John had an incredible voice range and he sang with passion & feeling .He was what I call "good people".
Why do the good ones have to die so early? :tears
I give you John Denver "Calypso"

me too slo! i love the documentary films from him.
John Denver, i heard this song:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DC8nDdPM_Qk
before i ever heard from john denver. In the GDR(German Democratic Republic) the socialists didn't want to pay the capitalistic record labels. So they decided only to buy the songs from the songwriters, took her own singers and made her own interpretations. a very interesting strategy.
So i heard very good interpretations from "Take me Home, Country Roads", Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire" and fantastic melodies of western from Ennio Morricone, Elmer Bernstein, Jose Feliciano and Johnny Hallyday.
It was a nice time, lieing on bed, close my eyes and listen*violin**piano**bass*
:yikes:Henry John Deutschendorf jr. - now i know why this guys was so good:naughty

You posted a good set buddy.
(I know I'll be seeing more of "Call On Me" thats for sure):D

Hugh Laurie is one of my favorite actors. He played with Rowan Atkinson(Mr. Bean) in Blackadder. For his part in Fox's "House, MD" as Dr. Gregory House (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gregory_House), he get 2006 and 2007 the golden globe.

That was my mening to set Safri-Duo in my Danish video, but couldn't find it ;)

Boney M got me to think of the good old Disco Time. A different time for the clothing style, Jean's got changed out for carbardine...people dressed nicere like the good old days when you were going out.

Pelle.... "Laid Back" That's a good head nodding tune, I like that.
eD77..... I can understand and respect why you took it off. I found a rally video that had a killer song with it but the wrecks they showed were to gruesome/painful to watch.
I knew there was a sensitive side about you.......... I like that!
Henry.... "Rock Me Amadeus" Thats a good song. I can see why it was a #1 hit.
"Abenteuerland" I liked the way the audience was singing with the band.
I like being part of things like that.
"Safri Duo" Great techno song, and these guys know how to throw down on the skins/drums.
"Boney M,".... I like this group after hearing this. Techno with a slight Jamaican or West Indies flavor in it. Good combination in my book. And your right, Bobby Farrell can "bust-a-move" on the floor.:D

And Henry thank you so much for providing me some insight/knowledge of "Reinhard Fendrich" and the history behind the song. I'm glad so many people love his music and words.
Like John Denver, he seems like a humble man. He doesn't give you a flashy performance or big stage setting with all the blinking lights & smoke.
No.... he gives you his music & voice, all of which comes from his heart and spills out to the audience/listener

"Alizze"....aha who can resist a beautiful French chick singing in what is probably the most beautiful language of them all.:D
"Santabarbara" nice, I knew the Italians had more going for them than just opera.;)
Pelle. "Disco Inferno" probably represents the disco music best. Good hit there buddy.
And there should have been more dance instruction video's out thats for sure. White folks needed it.:)

David Bowie.... You really can't go wrong with him. Not only does he sing good but his music is always well produced and arranged. Very professional.
Bjork....I like the "kettle drums" they used in there. Never heard that used before with techno. But I'm hearing different styles of techno from you guys so I'm learning.
Nick Cave.... slow and very different from all of your other songs Pelle.
the Love Boat, if you can't jump-start your romance on a cruse ship, well......

Blues
Most white people I know came to the blues from rock & roll. Most of the great rock players, Clapton, the Stones, Led Zeppelin and many more have their roots in blues.

Everybody wanted to jam with blues greats like Muddy Waters, B B King, John Lee Hooker but very few were "asked" to sit in with them.
The 3 white musicians who were asked the most to sit in with the greats were Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Bonnie Raitt.
I can well understand why people don't like the blues. It's slow and overall sad music. But this is the root of rock & roll.

You want to know how comfortable a musician feels with his guitar. Watch how often he or she looks down at the frets, where you place your fingers.
My favorite rock guitarist.

Phudys - Das Buch(the book)

@ Henry.... I like the way you give us "foreigners" a little information on some songs that might need it.Certainly shows us how hard it is to get the full impact or meaning of a song when you don't know what their saying.
Electra, liked the song and the harmenizing.
Wolfgang & Petra Zieger, good music.
Tamara Danz., I liked her songs. Found out they even named a street in Berlin after her but didn't find out how she died?
Karat, very nicely done. A protest song without all the screaming & yelling that goes on over here.
Das Buch, A book story done to music. Great idea. The pictures & music matched up very well. (German wife says so):D
I liked seeing the killer whales too. Every 2-3 years we have a pod (a family) that comes into the waters near me, feasting on salmon. Beautiful creatures to see.... just awesome!
And the Smurfs, very cute and a good one to finish on.

Great contribution here Henry. That's that kind of national pride I want to see.

Wolfgang & Petra Zieger, good music. Are they husband & wife?
Tamara Danz., I liked her songs. Found out they even named a street in Berlin after her but didn't find out how she died?

THX slo.
Yeah. evil catch: Ziegler & Zieger:p
Her song is about her erotic and romatic fantasies. He sings about a his affair - he wants more but she not.

Tamara Danz (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tamara_Danz)/Silly (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silly_%28band%29) died of breast cancer. In the link you can read, that she got involved with politic. Her songs are popular in east and west and so it's a shame that after the german reunification many record labels wanted she, but not her songs. She should sing love songs, but she didn't want and so the band ends up on the street.

The Puhdys (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puhdys) have reams of good songs.
Puhdys - Alt wie ein Baum(old like a tree)
With a big treetop so he can catch all his dreams between sky and earth.
http://de.youtube.com/watch?v=_islb_huUkI&feature=related

WOW Slo, i envy you! I love Orcas! Much beautiful, very intelligent and adaptable. If the fishers go on tuna hunt in the Mediterranean the orcas shadow thier and steal the tuna from fishhook. :rofl1
If your Orcas are members of the resident groups around vancouver you can swim and dive with them, cause they eat only fish and squid.

WoW Henry...and nice finish with the 'Smurphs' song :D
But like Slo...even I have a German last name, I don't understand much :(

Here is my new favourite to drive with...yes, the song is in GTL/Music folder ;)

german trucker song:
Henry Valentino & Uschi - Im Wagen vor mir(in the car in front of me)
She drives slow in her duck (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citro%C3%ABn_2CV) on the freeway. He follows her because *he starts spontaneously to love she*. Now he is dreaming of her. She is wondering and sceptical why he doesn't overtake. Now she imagine fanciful things who he is(cop, criminal,...) until she leaves the freeway to hide from him. But he thinks she is at her finish, says good-bye and drives on.

@Henry.. The Puhdys have a good thing going. Pretty talented group too.
"Im Wagen vor mir" very nice story about it. Wife really liked it too.
And Henry.... your english is remarkable to say the least.:D

@Robert.... Great set buddy.
I see ya got that romantic mood going on tonight. It's good to slow the pace down brother.
(some things are meant to be done "slow")

Gentlemen.... the most important dance you'll ever learn is the "slow" one. All those cool steps you once had for fast dancing...... yeah, well as you get older your body ain't giving them to you anymore. Bad knees, back, popping sound in your neck. You just ain't going to bust a move like you did in years past.
Slow dancing will help keep you close. Chances are if you ain't slow dancing there's some other stuff/things you ain't doing much of with your woman.:naughty

The Beatles..... To me ...was the "greatest band" of all time.but not the greatest "rock & Roll" band in my opinion.
They were so diverse in their music. Like the fingers on the hand, R&R was just one of them.
The Beatles hit America in 64. Back then every band with long hair was labeled a R&R band. But by 68-69 they started separating in what people like me term "hard rock" and "soft rock".
Bands like The Stones, The Who, Led Zeppelin and Cream just to name a few stayed the course with R&R.
I would match the Stones against the Beatles any day in a R&R showdown. The Stones had a blues/rock style they never went away from. The Beatles were pop-rock-contemporary-mid eastern.... you name it... they tried it.
But we both agree they were the greatest band of all time.

Aaaah yeah.... when your half way under the bed you start screaming & throwing your legs around.
Really freaks the kid out the first time you do it.:D
@Cos..... Man I'm sooooo happy for you my friend. Any time you can see a Beatle perform in person is like watching history. I'm sure everyone there felt like you did and went home with memories they will carry with them for ever.

Cos that was money well spent. Would like to know more if possible.
Like how much the tickets cost?
How close where you to the band?
How long was it?
What songs really got the crowd going?
What song did they end with?

"Smalltown Boy"..... the eye candy was sure better but Bronski Beat was definitely the better version imo.

"Hardrock Hallelujah".... good heavy rock beat. Thats a new group to me. Reminded me a little of Black Sabbath.

Lap dance.... dude that guy actually got to touch the chick. Here you can't touch them and they have to keep like 1 meter distance for the costumer. What a rip-off.

PANTERA, Now thats some serious hard rock. I would suggest these dudes get some anger management classes and maybe some good "smoke" to take the edge off the attitude. After listening to that one I was looking around my room for something to smash up too.:D
Angora, What a tempo change from PANTREA. At first I thought "what the hell is my d*ck doing in their video"!
But I hold mine in my right hand.:wink1

@Pelle.... What language was it in ? Swedish? All movies here in Scandinavien is the original language, but with subtitles.
Denmark - Sweden - Norway languages is very similar & especially us who grew up with Swedish TV it is easy to understand, but there are always subtitles on TV when serving Swedish or Norwegian.
We take often over the bridge to Sweden (Bizz in the car to run straight through) & here in Malmö they most understand Danish too.
One thing I came to mind when I see your * (beep), here on TV we call things what they are called, not (d*ck)(*ss) (beep'beep) ... but dick and ass.;)

What 3 songs would you play to get the people off their *ss and onto the dance floor. From the'70s it must be Trammps (Disco Inferno) this with CJ & Co. and Do The Hustle.
80s ... I think just a little.

@Pelle.. "Do The Hustle", "Disco Inferno", "Dancing Queen" solid picks. I was totally blown away by "Devils Gun" though. That one was a surprise.
However it was no surprise to see the American (Robert) choose "KC & The Sunshine Band." We did love those guys.

Hey cool...I'm down with that. You Europeans have always been more open minded than us ami's
Now for your viewing pleasure I have posted 3 of my top requests international "dick-pic's" that I used to post at adult websites.
They were extremely popular with the Asian women, who said I was hung like a small pony.;)
In pick #2 you could actually hear it slapping against my thigh and in pic #3 I'm giving it my world renown "helicopter spin".
Just click the link below and enjoy.

I am glad nobody left a post saying something like, "hey man, I clicked the link to check out your "man-package" but the link didn't work."
I mean, who here is going to admit they wanted to see another guys "package":o
I spent most of yesterday laughing my ass off just thinking about it.:rofl1

Back to the Disco:
In the middle of the great disco time (1975) there was a dance which is certainly some of us 'older' specially remember: BUMP
Easy to learn ... shock the ass with your dance partner to the rhythm of the music, a big hit here in Denmark :naughty

@brother Sol.. the song did the same to me buddy. I miss Ray Charles. "Hit The Road Jack" was the first record I ever bought and I still hace it. :heheh
@Pelle.. anything with David Bowie in it will have a good musical arrangement.
Oh yeah I remember the "Bump" and all the ass shaken that went along with it.:)
Man I have always loved the Bee Gee's. But I dig any group that can harmonize well.
Third World, I like that reggae sound, always have.... always will.
FunkyTown, Yeah baby...that's what we're talking about.
And it wouldn't be a true Pelle post without our "eye-candy":D
@Robert.."Smooth Operator" my favorite Sade song.

If we're getting into the 80's we're getting into Michael's territory.

When Journey and Steve Perry parted ways it was doubtful if they would ever find a voice like Perry's to replace him. They tried other guys but nobody could match the high notes that Perry hit.
That is until they spotted this guy Arnel Pineda on YouTube. He has recharged my interest in music again.

Steve Perry vs Arnel Pineda

I guess this isn't a cover song anymore because it's done by the original band but with a new lead singer.

Yeah well I "was" a big Perry fan at one time. That is up to the point he started thinking he was bigger than the band. Same thing David Lee Roth pulled on Van Halen. Head got too big..... ego trippin'.
I wish Steve good luck on his solo career but if thought he couldn't be replaced..... :shades
It wasn't easy but this Pineda dude from the Philippines is unbelievable. The press releases are going crazy about him. This guy is the real-deal.
I can understand how you feel tho.
