I went to the yearly Chino Warbird Airshow this last weekend. Chino is one of the largest Warbird Airshow on the west coast. Almost all WWII planes. The sounds are just amazing. Nothing like a V-12 Merlin roaring by at a good speed. The main fly-by event was quite a site with 25 warbirds. Four P-51 Mustangs, two F7F Tigercats, three P-40 Warhawks, two, two FB11 Hawker Sea Furys, three Bearcats, one P-38 Lightning, one P-47 Thunderbolt(early razorback),one SBD5 Dauntless divebomber, one TBM3 Avenger, one F4F Wildcat, one F6F Hellcat, one F4U Corsair, two B-25 Mitchell Bombers, and One of the only original Japanese Mitsubishi Zero's currently flying. All in the air at the same time !!! Wicked sounds!! there was also a flight demo of the A-10 Warthog aka "The Gun" and a C-17 Globemaster. You can believe how short of a runway take-off this big boy needs. And more incredible it can land within 3 lengths of itself !! No joke.

Pics for clicks..:)

Thanks Henry. No German planes flying.:( But Chino Airport is part of the "Planes of Fame" group and have 2 locations with museums at each place. Chinos Museum Has a Messerschmitt 163 Rocket interceptor plane and currently restoring an early BMW powered Focke-Wulf 190:thumbup:My Favorite. And Valle,Arizona Museum has a Messerschmitt 109E.

Here's some pics of the 109.

The Jewel at the Valle location is a completely original and unrestored C-121A Constellation that General Douglas Macarthur used as his personal plane and was also used in the Berlin Airlift before being retired, but never gutted or ever used again.

And behold the pinnacle of piston powered aircraft engines. The mighty Pratt & Whitney R-4360 Wasp Major. That's 28 cylinders!! 4 rows of 7 cylinders was also known as the "corn cobb".
