    Default JAVA/Flash problems

Hey fellas, So I'm having problems with JAVA Script and or Flash. I can't play video's from YouTube anymore. The weird thing is this was a problem that surfaced about 3 months ago and has slowly but steadily gotten worse. Some times The videos would play other times I get the standard "Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player." I of course downloaded the newest Flash Player and made sure I have everything enabled for JAVA to work. Strange thing is when it would work I would try it an hour later and it would. With no restarts or anything else. Plus what else is weird is the YouTube videos embedded in a post like here or anywhere else they will play. Then if I double click on the same video which takes you to the main URL at YouTube the same video will not play there. Now the newest weird deal is I tried a couple of new browsers. Chrome was the first.. Didn't play videos. Then Firefox which worked for playing the videos. That only lasted one day...Yesterday.. Today same deal with even Firefox now. I get the usual "Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player." I'm kinda at my wits end with this deal. I'm no computer genius, far from it.. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

    The problem I can remember
If it is in Vista, try pressing 'FlashUtil9d' located here:
    C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash
    Right click 'Run as administator'

If there are problems playing movies that are downloaded in Windows Media Player, look here

I have that newest version of Java and don't have any addons like noscript. Plus no Vista here. I'm running XP. This OS is almost 2 years old so I guess it might just becoming unstable and it's time for a format and start all over.

    XP? I would not think 2 seconds...in with a Windows 7
...but before you give up, try this tip
If you have a PC and are using Firefox, Installing Adobe Flash Player goes as follows.
    1. Go into tools and click Add-ons
    2. Disable Adobe Acrobat
    3. Go to the Adobe.com and download Adobe Flash Player
    4. Close Firefox completely
    5. Install Adobe Flash Player normally
    6. Go into Firefox and repeat steps 1 and 2 this time Enable Adobe Acrobat.

Thanks for the help. I tried doing that and still nothing. I even deleted Flash and Acrobat and then downloaded the newest versions with no change. It's just so weird that I can play YouTube video's when they are embedded in a post but the same video will not play when you go to the direct link at YouTube. And yes if I do format I wont go with XP again and will get a copy of Window 7 for sure. Cheers

i searched a little bit and found that you are not alone.
there was a problem with the flash player installation. could it be, that you didn't uninstall the old versions, but install the new ones?
    uninstall all flash players first.
if you don't found it, than try this: http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get...ash_player.exe

    than reinstall the new one.

Thanks Henry and Pelle for all your help. I did get Video's to work again with firefox after I was on Yahoo.com and noticed that the video's there wouldn't work. I clicked on the empty/blank video at yahoo and it said I was missing a plug-in. After the plug-in was installed the video worked again. Still not working with Explorer, but that's no biggie. Thanks again fellas
